Wix domain not connecting: "Domain not connected" or "Pending"
You bought the domain somewhere else and Wix still says it is not connected. Wix needs one of two setups, and mixing them is the usual fault.
What to do, in order
- Pick one method. Nameservers (Wix runs your DNS) or pointing (you keep DNS at your registrar). Wix shows which one it expects under Domains, your domain, Connection details.
- Nameserver method: at your registrar, replace the nameservers with the two Wix shows you. Remove any others. Run
dig NS yoursite.com +short to see what the world sees.
- Pointing method: the A record for the bare domain must point to the IP Wix gives you, and
www must be a CNAME to the Wix address shown. Delete old A records for the same name; two A records means half your visitors get the old site.
- Wait, then check. Changes usually show within an hour but can take up to 48. Use
dig +short yoursite.com from your computer.
- Email stopped after the change? Nameserver moves drop your MX records. Add them again in Wix DNS.
If it still says pending, send me the address and I will tell you which record is wrong.
