Is my website down for everyone or just me?
Answer that first. It decides whether the fault is on your side or the site's.
How to tell, in two minutes
- Try another network. Open the site on your phone with Wi-Fi off. If it loads there, the site is up and your own connection or computer is the problem.
- Ask a checker. downforeveryoneorjustme.com or isitdownrightnow.com test from their own servers.
- Read the exact error. "Server not found" or ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED is DNS or an expired domain. 500, 502, 503 or 504 is the server. A Cloudflare page with a number is the server behind Cloudflare. "Account suspended" is the host's billing.
If it is down for everyone
- Check your registrar: is the domain renewed?
- Check your host's status page and your email for a suspension or billing notice.
- Check your host's panel: is the server running, is the disk full?
- Undo the last change: a plugin update, a theme switch, a DNS edit.
If it is down only for you
- Restart the router. Clear the browser cache or try a private window.
- Your own IP may be blocked by a security plugin after failed logins. Ask your host to check.
Send me the address and I will tell you which of these it is.
