Shopify store shows "Opening soon" or asks for a password: how to open it to customers

Every new Shopify store starts behind a password page. Visitors see "Opening soon" or a password box instead of your products. It stays that way until you remove the password, and Shopify only lets you do that on a paid plan.

What to do, in order

1. Pick a plan. In your admin go to Settings, Plan. While the store is on a free trial, the password cannot be removed.
2. Remove the password. Go to Online Store, Preferences. Scroll to Password protection. Untick "Restrict access to visitors with the password" and press Save.
3. Check the right domain. If your own domain still shows the old page, go to Settings, Domains and make sure your domain is set as primary and shows "Connected".
4. Clear the cache. Open the store in a private window. Your browser may be showing the old password page.
5. Check the theme. If the page still says "Opening soon" with no password box, your theme may have its own "coming soon" section or an app is doing it. Look in Apps for a coming-soon or maintenance app and turn it off.

Check it yourself
