"ConnectYourDomain Error" on Wix: what it means and how to fix it

A page titled ConnectYourDomain Error | Wix.com means your domain points at Wix, but Wix does not have a live site attached to it.

What it means

Three usual causes. The Premium plan ended, so the site went back to a free plan that cannot use your own domain. The site was unpublished or deleted. Or the domain was disconnected from the site inside the Wix dashboard.

What to do, in order

1. Log in at wix.com with the account that owns the site.
2. Go to Subscriptions. If the Premium plan has expired, renew it. A free Wix site cannot show on your own address.
3. Go to Domains. Check the domain is listed and connected to the right site. If it says "not connected", use Assign to Site.
4. Open the site in the editor and press Publish.
5. Wait up to an hour, then load your address on your phone on mobile data.

If the domain is not in your Wix account

If you bought the domain elsewhere (GoDaddy, Namecheap, 123-reg), log in there and check it is still paid up. Then follow Wix's "connect a domain you already own" steps, which set the name servers or records at your registrar.
